The Brett Martin Roof Lantern is a premium, double‑glazed aluminium rooflight system designed to flood your space with natural light while keeping heat in and weather out. With a fully thermally broken frame, clean sight lines and a choice of pane layouts and glass specs, it’s ideal for kitchens, living areas and extensions where you want a bright, open‑plan feel without sacrificing performance.

4‑Pane Layout
A contemporary look with larger glass areas and fewer bars. Perfect for modern extensions and minimal interiors.
6‑Pane Layout
A more traditional lantern aesthetic with additional glazing bars, great for period properties or where you want a little more visual structure.
Inner Glass Options – Toughened or Laminated
Every Brett Martin Roof Lantern is supplied with self‑cleaning outer glass as standard, paired with a high‑performance inner pane. You can choose between:
- Toughened inner glass – the robust, standard option for most applications. Toughened glass is up to five times stronger than ordinary glass and breaks safely into small granular pieces.
- Laminated inner glass – recommended by the Rooflight Association for enhanced overhead safety. Laminated glass is made from multiple layers bonded together, so if it breaks the inner layer holds together rather than falling into the room.
If you’re unsure which option is best for your project, we can advise based on room use, height above floor level and any specific safety requirements.
Thermal Performance
- Centre‑pane glazing U‑value of around 1.2 W/m²K.
- Overall rooflight Ur‑value typically between 1.8 – 2.0 W/m²K, depending on specification.
- Fully thermally broken aluminium frame to reduce cold bridging and condensation risk.

What is a roof lantern?
A roof lantern is a raised, pitched glazed structure that sits on a flat or low-pitch roof. It creates a striking architectural feature and floods the room below with daylight from multiple angles.
What's the difference between 4-pane and 6-pane?
The 4-pane modern lantern has clean, contemporary lines with minimal bars. The 6-pane classic adds a more traditional, detailed look. Both are made to your exact size.
Toughened or laminated inner pane?
A laminated inner pane adds extra safety and security and improves acoustic performance — often preferred (and sometimes required) for overhead glazing. Toughened is a strong, cost-effective alternative.
What frame colours are available?
Choose from a range of powder-coated finishes including grey, black and white, with dual-colour options so the internal and external frame can differ to suit your interior and roof.
